 Cheap Car transportation
Bid on a car on ebay and found that it is not taxed?  Have you broken down and now discover that your breakdown cover takes you only a few miles off the motorway but you have to pay to get your car back home?

In the UK transportation costs can vary wildly  - ranging from 70p per mile to £1.50 or more.

A couple of hundred miles can cost an awful lot of money.

These are the alternatives:

Call 2 or 3 local recovery businesses and hope on of them will be a cheap solution.

Rent a Car Transporter: The units available for rental tend to be very limited in their carrying capacity. Whilst they are called 3.5 ton transporters that is the MAXIMUM weight of the vehicle when loaded and with the driver on board. In reality this limits the carrying capacity to around 1.4t or, in other words a very modest sized car.
I have never found a company that hires out onm a self drive basis a unit capable of carrying a Range Rover or similar.

The otehr snag with the self drive solution is that the car you are carrying is NOT covered in the event of accident.
Increasingly popular are sites such as www.Motormoves.com. Sites such have these have assembled panels of car transporter operators. The listings are sent to the transporters who bid against each other for the job. This reverse auction usually results in highly competitive quotes.

There you are take your pick and see what works out for you. Good luck!
